Traveling means more than moving between locations. It creates stories, introduces new foods, and builds lasting memories. Our recent Toronto visit highlighted this. We experienced a flurry of unexpected events, snowfall, and sushi! If you love to travel or need ideas for your next adventure, get ready as I describe our four action-packed days in Toronto’s vibrant atmosphere.

Why Toronto? A Special Celebration

This journey held extra significance because we had a goal—to catch Paxton’s grandpa off guard on his milestone 80th birthday! Picture his reaction when we entered the room .

We flew both ways with Air Canada, which proved smooth and convenient with our TSA Pre-Check status. Family trips with young children, can be challenging, but this one felt stress-free and smooth from the beginning. Toronto has a quality that makes each visit seem like a new fresh adventure.

Sushi and Smiles at Our Favorite Spot

What’s a trip to Toronto without trying some of the city’s incredible food? For our second day, we made our way to Ichiban, our favorite all-you-can-eat sushi place. We’ve eaten here on our earlier visits, and this time, I was eager to return. It had been a year and a half, and wow, it felt like we were back home!

When it comes to Toronto, the food scene is no joke. Want sushi, ramen, Korean BBQ, or even hot dogs from a cart? This city has it all. At the AYCE restaurant, we loaded up on salmon sashimi, dim sum, crispy tempura, and more. But the cutest part? Watching Paxton (our little guy) enjoy his soup and rice like he was the star of his foodie show. Also, how he had to do it himself and wouldn’t let either of us help him. Seeing your child savor new foods is one of those moments that make traveling so memorable.

Psst, if you’re planning your own Toronto trip, make sure to explore the city’s amazing food options. You’ll thank me later!

Snow + Paxton = A Winter Wonderland Worth Watching

One of the most exciting parts of this trip was seeing Paxton experience snow for the very first time. For us, snow is something we rarely get to see, so watching him light up as he touched it, played in it, and (inevitably) tried eating it was such a joy.

Our first encounter with the snow was hilarious. We used his grandparent’s walking sticks to help him waddle through the icy patches outside. He looked like a boy on a mission to find some hills to slide down. Unfortunately, the icy snow didn’t allow us for any type of fun outside of just walking and throwing snowballs. However, when we visited our friend’s home, their backyard was a winter wonderland with soft, powdery snow as it ended up snowing on the way there. This was the kind of snow that begged to be played in.

Paxton couldn’t get enough! He tumbled, giggled, and threw mini snowballs. It was pure joy, and moments like these are why family trips are so worth it. If you’re planning a Toronto trip in winter, be prepared for frosty adventures and pack those warm layers!

A Whirlwind Four-Day Toronto Trip

Here’s the thing about short trips to vibrant cities like Toronto. They always feel like they speed by faster than you can keep up with! Between our packed schedule and the time difference, our four days came to an end way too soon.

There were a few things we didn’t get to this time around, like heading downtown for one of Toronto’s iconic hot dogs from a street cart. (Yes, I’m still dreaming about it!) And with the snow being so stunningly distracting, we didn’t explore as many parts of the city as we had hoped. But you know what that means? More reasons to plan a return trip!

Every trip has its highlights and “next time” moments. For us, this trip was perfect in its own beautifully imperfect way. It was special, fun, and packed with memories we’ll hold onto forever.
